Much Mahalo and Aloha
The Living Art Marine Center is Honolulu's Interactive Marine Center. Since its opening in 2010, this 30,000 square feet property by Honolulu International Airport has grown into a staple for marine science education and a local favorite for families to enjoy the beauty of the undersea world.
The Living Art Marine Center aims to instill a sense of wonder, beauty, and emotional investment in the natural world by offering a wide range of fully guided, hands-on, and activity-based programs like school field trips, outreach programs, family workshops, and parties for up to 30,000 visitors yearly.
Two indoor and a smaller outdoor area hold up to 8000 gallons of salt water exhibits and backstage areas housing over 300 species of tropical fish and invertebrates from around the Indo-Pacific. Popular at the Marine Center is the Discovery Zone: a 700 gallon area to touch a range of hermit crabs, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, and even the cute and fuzzy teddybear crab. Other notable exhibits are the "Tang Tank" full with species of surgeon fish, and the rotating collection of Moray Eels that visitors can feed. In addition, we offer craft workshops like gyotaku t-shirt printing, opae ula pet shrimp, and aquaponics programs.
With great pride and dedication we have served the Honolulu community for over 8 years and we feel blessed to have received so much love and support for marine science education.
